Krith'Rup - My new GuM orc
Verfasst: 09 Mär 2019 17:51
Hi All,
I am happy to share with you all the documentation of making my new orc-armor
I tried to base the look of it on the armors shown in The Return of the King movie, with elements of standard Orklager GuM-style features.
If you have some questions / comments, feel free to add them.
Regards,
Gal / Krith'Rup / Slarn
Leather Tunic:
This one comes over a black-cloth tunic (you can see the black sleeves below):
Leather armor, to serve as the basis for the metal plates that will go over them:
Two short, riveted mail sleeves. to cover the rib area, at the sides of the leather armor (I used this technique also with Slarn's armor).
Various metal junk that I have collected in the trash area, after some office was renovated near where I live.
I coated each metal piece with cheap oil, and then burnt it on open fire, to make the metal look black.
Cutting each metal plate into the desired shape:
Bending it to give it more shape:
And again:
Then, I placed the metal plates on the leather armor, but it looked too straight:
So, I took it off and hammered it on the stone pavement of the street, to bend it and give it a more organic shape, and make it look more injured:
Then, I mounted it again on the leather armor:
Since the leather armor looked too shiny, I decided to coat it with a layer of thin, old-looking leather:
Making the greaves / leg armor:
Making the pauldrons and the side-plates - this time I first cut the metal, shaped it, and only then burnt it with oil.
(I realized that working on an already blackened metal causes the burnt markings to come off):
Burning it:
Ready!
I made bracers with an integral gloves:
Making the Tuzanthar harness:
Ready!
Mask by Nona of Skutog'Mor:
Finally, wearing the finished costume for the first time today, to try it on (although I don't have the mask yet).
Photos by my wife, and our little girl also joined
I apologize for the inverted photos; I don't know why do they appear inverted here (they look good on my computer... ) :
See you at Uruks VS. Britons
P. S.
You can also view all the photos on this link (they are not inverted there):
